I joined Atlas Venture in 2004, where I am a Partner in the technology group. I focus on emerging companies in enterprise and internet infrastructure, alternative energy, and advanced material science. I work closely with MIT, Harvard University, Boston University and other innovation engines to commercialize technologies developed in their labs.
Since joining Atlas Venture, I invested in in DataPower which was acquired by IBM in 2005 (I originally invested in DataPower while at Seed Capital). I am the founding investor in AEB, Bit9, Veracode, and Songbird. I also led the firm’s investment in Mascoma.
Before joining Atlas Venture, I was a Partner with Seed Capital Partners where I was the lead investor in DataPower, Way Systems, and Polychromix.
Prior to Seed Capital Partners, I built strategic and operational solutions for communications, media and technology clients at Booz Allen & Hamilton. Before Booz Allen, I served in management roles at Nortel Networks in a variety of M&A and strategy roles, where I focused on broadband convergence and Internet initiatives. As an entreprenuer I have founded a coffee shop and oyster culture initiative.
I received my M.B.A. in Finance and Operations, with distinction, from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester and a B.S. in Management and Mathematics from the University of Alaska.
Jeff gave me my first job when I dropped out of the Ph.D. program in 2000. We have been working together ever since; on companies like Songbird and Veracode. He was crazy enough to support me as an EIR at Atlas Venture while we were working on Venture Hacks. He is an entrepreneur-friendly investor to the extreme. His secret power is instinctively finding win-win solutions. Get Jeff on your board—I did.
